Five years ago, Larry Bortniker and Sally Deering's hilarious new musical DR. SEX about The Life of sex researcher Alfred C. Kinsey became a Jeff Award winning hit for Bailiwick Repertory in the old Bailiwick Arts Center. Now Bailiwick is back and on the road with BOMBS AWAY! Deering and Bortniker's crazily comic depiction of Dr. Barry Mishkin, America's foremost Broadway musicologist who has amassed an amazing collection of scenes and numbers cut from Broadway's classic musicals.

In BOMBS AWAY! Mishkin and his troupe of actors dare to present his collection against the wishes of the writers of the classic musicals and despite a stop order directive from a judge. Selections to be performed are "Krakatoa" which was the original island setting for South Pacific, "I Own A Nail Salon" from the rarely seen flash-forward ending of Miss Saigon, "Too Fat To Dance" trimmed from A Chorus Line, "I Shake Me Green Shillelagh" which at one point anchored Finian's Rainbow, and the catchy "See Ya In Ikea" from Mamma Mia. And of course, very few people remember the title song "Bombs Away!" was Mother Abbess' initial response to Maria's question about how to handle the Nazi's in Sound of Music.

Of course, all the songs and scenes are really the original creations of Bortniker and Deering and will leave the audience cheering. BOMBS AWAY! is directed by David Zak, assisted by Elisa Woodruff, with musical direction by Jimmy Morehead, costumes by Jeff Jones, and musical staging by Christopher Pazdernik. Casting will be announced soon.

BOMBS AWAY will be performed in Mary's Attic, the great new cabaret theater at 5400 North Clark, above Hamburger Mary's in Andersonville. Since opening in 2007, the Attic has housed various cabaret and comedy shows, many community benefits, and is the home to the long running GLBT Soap Opera The Ville.

Showtimes for BOMBS AWAY! are 7:00 p.m on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from June 4 to July 11. Tickets are $15 for general admission, and ten reserved seats ($20) are available for each performance in the front row.

For tickets call 773 883 1090 or visit www.bailiwick.org.

Up next for Bailiwick is the repertory presentation of a new play and musical as a part of PRIDE 2009 to be performed at the Hoover-Leppen Theater in the Center on Halsted, 3656 North Halsted. Performances for Pride 2009 will be announced on April 15.
