The Auditorium Theatre launches ADMIT ONE, a new initiative that provides community groups with the opportunity to experience music and dance at the National Historic Landmark. The ADMIT ONE program covers tickets, as well as transportation costs to and from the theatre, to underserved Chicagoland after-school and neighborhood groups and social service agencies. In addition, some groups will experience pre-show engagements and in-community residencies organized by the Auditorium Theatre's Creative Engagement Department.

"With the ADMIT ONE program, we will be able to welcome even more Chicagoans to our Historic Landmark stage, and offer them an unforgettable experience that will hopefully spark their community's connections with the performing arts," says Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, Auditorium Theatre CEO.

Auditorium Theatre patrons have the option to donate to the ADMIT ONE fund when purchasing tickets for upcoming performances. For every $15 raised, the Auditorium Theatre is able to send one person to an upcoming performance at the theatre. Soft-launched in August, the ADMIT ONE program has already raised close to $10,000, all in just $5 increments. Donations also may be made to the fund at any time here.

The Auditorium Theatre has announced the first round of program partners, who will bring 180 people to Dance Theatre of Harlem on November 18: Donda's House, an organization that honors the legacy of Dr. Donda West (Kanye West's mother), which provides programs for aspiring songwriters, rappers, singers, fashion designers, and more; Marquette Avenue Block Club, a neighborhood group that works to create a happier, safer community in the South Shore area; Beyond the Bell Austin, which works to expose teens and their parents from Chicago's west side to the performing arts; andMatteson Youth Athletic Association Donors, a not-for-profit youth football league that recently added a dance program.

"This will be a colorful experience for the kids," says Maia LaVille, group leader of the Marquette Avenue Block Club. "I can't wait to see them take those first steps into the exquisite theatre!"

Applications are currently open for community partners to attend the upcoming performances of Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah (January 14), Jackie Chan's Long Yun Kung Fu Troupe from Beijing (February 4), and Thodos Dance Chicago (March 11). To apply, groups must be able to organize a group of 20 or more people and be based in a Chicagoland neighborhood community (K-12 schools are not eligible at this time, but after-school groups are encouraged to apply). Groups may submit applications here.
