Heaven Can Wait by Harry Segall runs April 16 - May 30, 2010 with performances: Fridays & Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Heaven Can Wait" is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

A "spirited," timeless classic set in the 1940's... Not only is Joe Pendleton's soul accidentally plucked from his body and sent to heaven sixty years too early, but the angelic messengers are too late to restore him. Solution: take up residence in Jonathan Farnsworth's body, a rich business tycoon who is about to be murdered by his wife and her lover. With the help of Mr. Jordan - the head messenger, Joe tries to train for the championship boxing career he began in his former body, while undoing Farnsworth's wrong-doings before Mrs. Farnsworth can murder him...again. (The basis for the Oscar-winning movies - "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" and "Heaven Can Wait".)

Oscar-winning screenwriter, playwright and Chicago native - Harry Segall - is best known as the playwright of "Heaven Can Wait". His play has been a popular comedy on both the stage and big screen for more than 70 years. The play "Heaven Can Wait" was the basis for the 1941 Academy Award-winning movie "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" starring Robert Montgomery. In 1947 it was then remade to feature Rita Hayworth in the film "Down to Earth". The popular 1978 Academy Award-winning film adaptation of "Heaven Can Wait" starred Warren Beatty and Julie Christie. The most recent 2001 film adaptation entitled "Down to Earth" featured Chris Rock. Attic Playhouse is happy to bring this classic comedy down from Heaven to the Attic stage!
