Apple Tree Theatre is thrilled to announce the third show of its 25th Season, Match, by Stephen Belber. Directed by Steve Scott.

Former choreographer and dancer Tobi Powell passes the time knitting and collecting fingernail clippings. When Lisa, a curious graduate student, and her sullen husband, Mike, interview him about his mysterious years spent abroad, they unearth buried secrets, igniting a match that brings the trio together. What happens will either ruin or inspire the couple indefinitely, but one thing is certain: everyone's lives will change forever.

This is not Stephen Belber's first work that utilizes a tape-recorder to explore secrets and lies of the past. He is best known for his play, Tape, which was made into a well-received screen play by Richard Linklater, starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Robert Sean Leonard. The world premiere of Match first opened on Broadway in 2004 at the Plymouth Theatre and gained nominations for best actor, Frank Langella, from both the Tony Awards and Drama Desk Awards.

Steve Scott, who directs this piece, is the Associate Producer at the Goodman Theatre as well a member of the Goodman's Artistic Collective. At Apple Tree Theatre, Mr. Scott last directed Stones In His Pockets. Mr. Scott is the recipient of an After Dark Award, five Jeff nominations, and received the Illinois Theatre Association Award of Honor. The cast features Mark Douglas- Jones, Michelle Courvais, and Raymond L. Chapman. Production crew includes: Stage Management by Julia Zayas-Melendez (AEA), Costume Design by Carol Blanchard (USA), Set Design by J Branson, Lighting Design by Gina Patterson, Prop Design by Daniel Pellant, and Sound Design by Rob Steel.

Ticket prices for Match range from $38-$48. Senior, student, group and party rates are available. Apple Tree Theatre is located at 1850 Green Bay, suite 100 Highland Park, Illinois.  For more information visit www.appletreetheatre.com or call the box office at (847) 432-4335.
