Anthropologie of Highland Park to Host The Music Theatre Company Premier 2010 Gala 3/14

In support of The Music Theatre Company, Highland Park's epicenter for professional music theatre, Anthropologie, for the first time, will open its doors on Sunday, March 14th from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m., for what promises to be a unique fundraising extravaganza.

The Music Theatre Company is proud to honor Highland Park Mayor Michael D. Belsky with the 2010 TMTC Visionary Award for his commitment to The Arts in Highland Park. Councilwoman Terri Olian will be serving as Honorary Chair and will be also be honored for fostering The Arts in Highland Park.

"We are honored to have Anthropologie's support of new music theatre by their hosting of our 2010 Gala," said Highland Park native and TMTC Founding Artistic Director Jessica Redish. "We feel our original works echo their style of clothing and merchandise, and we believe the event will be a colorful celebration of creativity!"

The evening will feature original entertainment by TMTC's Company members - many of whom are Jeff-nominated - a raffle with cash prizes, silent auction, dancing to music provided by Bizar Entertainment, cuisine and cocktails from local caterers and restaurants. After hours shopping at Anthropologie will round out the evening.

"A highlight of the evening will be our Company Members wearing the latest Anthroplogie fashions performing original works from TMTC," continued Redish.

Company Members performing during the evening include Alan Schmuckler (Jeff Nominee for A Minister's Wife at Writers' Theatre), Elana Ernst and Zach Zube (of TMTC's 2009 production of The 9/11 Report: a Bipartisan Musical Fantasia), as well as Jeff Nominee Johanna Mckenzie Miller (of Marriott's Hairspray), Emily Rogers (of TMTC's 2009 48 Hour Musicals), among others.

The Music Theatre Company is a nationally based ensemble of professional writers, directors and actors from Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. committed to developing brave new musicals that engage the community of Highland Park and its surrounding areas by creating an ongoing social, cultural and political dialogue. TMTC strives to create theatre that is: daring, collaborative and innovative. Through educational programming TMTC strives to provide the tools for creativity and expanding the imaginations of a generation. TMTC believes that artists, teachers, and administrators should be compensated for their commitments. TMTC views the musical as a cathartic, communal, enlightening and entertaining experience and strives to contribute new works to the canon of one of the greatest American art forms: the musical. TMTC is 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization sponsored, in part, by The Highland Park Cultural Arts Commission.
