In tribute to Broadway Musicals, Cantors from several states will come together this May at Anshe Emet Synagogue's 14th Annual Dr. Arnold H. Kaplan Memorial Concert, Cantors on Broadway! Showtime is 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3751 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL.

The concert features world-renowned cantor and President of the Cantor's Assembly, Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi of Anshe Emet Synagogue, Chicago, IL; Cantor Susan Lewis Friedman of Beth Emet, Evanston, IL; Cantor Thom King of Beth El Congregation, Baltimore, MD; Cantor Andrea Rae Markowitz of Am Shalom, Glencoe, IL; Cantor Elizabeth Shammash of Tiferet Bet Israel, Blue Bell, PA; as well as teen soloist, Anna Gotskind, of Chicago Children's Choir, Chicago, IL. Music will be provided by the Don Cagen Orchestra.

Jewish-American composers and lyricists have almost exclusively created more than 50 years of Broadway's Golden Age of musical theater, including titles such as: Carousel, Funny Girl, Wonderful Town, West Side Story, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, Rent, Wicked, and Hairspray. Many pieces from the aforementioned musicals will be performed at the concert.

"Cantors on Broadway promises to be an exhilarating afternoon filled with great songs from our rich heritage of American musical theater. We're proud to present an entertaining show for all ages, for all members of the community. We're excited to showcase the finest cantors whose credits include Broadway national tours, Carnegie Hall, major opera and symphonies," said Joan and Avi Porat, Kaplan Concert Co-Chairs. "This Broadway themed concert is a Kaplan Concert first - not to be missed!"

"Were life a Broadway Musical, our senses would be constantly stimulated with rhythmic pulse, heightened emotions, intense highs and lows, and love without compare," remarked Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi. "Come celebrate the beauty of it all!"

Tickets are $36 per adult, $10 per student, and free for children under 13 who are accompanied by an adult. Purchase your ticket(s) online at http://www.AnsheEmet.org/CantorsOnBroadway or by calling 773-281-1423.
