Jackalope's 9th season continues with the world premiere of The Snare, written by Samantha Beach, directed by Elana Boulos*, with the full cast and production team announced below.

The Snare runs February 22 - April 1, 2017 at

Broadway Armory Park, 5917 N Broadway in Chicago.

The press performance is Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 8:00pm.

Ruth is your average eighth-grader, keeping busy with homework, vying to be captain of her basketball team, and trying to be more like her babysitter. When Ruth mentions at the dinner table that The Devil has been talking to her, her pastor mom and family struggle to help Ruth fight something only she can see. In this world premiere play about faith, doubt, and growing up, the question is: who will you believe?

The cast for The Snare features Caroline Heffernan (Ruth), Sam Blin (Caleb), Cyd Blakewell (Abigail), Joel Ewing (David), and Paloma Nozicka* (Sloane).

The production team for The Snare includes: Ashley Woods (scenic designer), Sarah Jo White (costume designer), Cat Wilson (lighting designer), Devon Green (props designer), Thomas Dixon (Sound Designer), Rebecca Adelsheim (dramaturg), Warren Wernick (technical director), Claire Sangster* (master electrician), Lexi Saunders (assistant director), Kelly Parker (casting associate), Emily Lowney (production manager), and Lauran Lassus (production stage manager).

Samantha Beach (playwright) is a Chicago-based playwright and actor. Her plays include Thing 100 (O'Neill Festival Finalist 2014, Leah Ryan FEWW Finalist, 20% Theatre DarkRoom), Welcome to the Laborhood (Northlight Theatre Education), Blubber (Actors Theatre of Louisville Solo Mio) and she is the bookwriter for Mill Girls, a new musical (The Music Theatre Company Young Artist's Program). She has appeared onstage at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Signal Theatre Ensemble, Next Theatre, Awkward Pause and Windy City Playhouse. Sam is also a teaching artist and faculty member with the NHSI Cherubs Program. She completed The Actors Theatre of Louisville Apprenticeship and graduated from Northwestern University.

Elana Boulos* (director) is the Associate Producer and Director of Casting for Jackalope Theatre, where she has been a company member since 2014, and has cast every Jackalope production since Exit Strategy. As a director, Elana has worked with Arden Theatre Company in Philadelphia, Griffin Theatre, Dog and Pony, Collaboraction, Awkward Pause Theatre, The Inconvenience, Timber Lake Playhouse, and Jackalope Theatre. Elana is a graduate of the University of the Arts with a BFA in Theatre Direction.

Jackalope Theatre Company, now in its ninth season, is committed to cultivating theatre that manifests the adventure deploy rooted in the American mythos.
