American Rhythm Center Offers Free Dance Classes This January

The American Rhythm Center (ARC), Chicago's shared education, rehearsal and special-event facility for dance, kicks off the new year with its New Year's DANCE Free-4-All, a week of FREE classes January 2-8 at in the historic Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 300, Chicago.

Led by Chicago Human Rhythm Project, the ARC's Free-4-All features more than 50 classes for all ability levels in a range of genres and styles, including tap, modern, ballet, Zumba, flamenco, musical theatre, hip hop, Afro-dancehall, break dancing, house, popping, jazz, Nia, parent-child classes and more. Teaching the classes are professionals representing the ARC's diverse community partners and other affiliated groups, including Chicago Human Rhythm Project, Kalapriya Center for Indian Performing Arts, , Gang of Toes, Mandala Arts, M.A.D.D. Rhythms,The Happiness Club, Movement Revolution Dance Crew, Noumenon Dance Ensemble, Djembe drumming by Sekou Conde and the Ka Folike School, and Robert Morris University, as well as independent artists including Formanda ColibriDeb Goodman, Tre Daniels, Donnetta Jackson, JC Hopkins, Nadell Jackson, Sarah Olaniran, Sbu Sithole, Jon'Quis Filyaw, Dedrick Gray, Nico Rubio, Monyett Crump and more.

The ARC also offers children/teen classes with partners Dance To EvOLvE, A&A Ballet/School of Performing Arts and Kalapriya Center for Indian Performing Arts, featuring such styles as tap, hip hop and Mommy/Daddy & Me.
