Ald. Joe Moore, 49th Ward Chicago alderman, is the first to accept an invitation to serve on the newly restructured Board of Directors for Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre. A new Board, representing local community and business leaders, is under development with plans to have a seven-member Board in place by January 2010.

Theo Ubique, a Rogers Park-based cabaret theatre company performing in the No Exit Cafe, has been operating with a four-member Board of Directors comprised of Fred Anzevino, co-founder and artistic director, and three other artistic company members. The company is undergoing organizational development initiatives after more than tripling revenues during its 2008-09 theatre season.

"We are truly honored and excited at Ald. Moore accepting our invitation to serve on the Board," Anzevino said. "He has been a strong supporter of developing the Glenwood Arts District in Rogers Park, in which we are an active member, and his support is an endorsement of the quality of our productions and our future."

Nationally, Moore is active in organizations concerned with city government issues, such as the National League of Cities on the advisory council, National Democratic Municipal Officials Conference as chair and Cities for Peace as co-founder. He previously served on the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the newly-formed DNC Committee on Budget and Finance.

Theo Ubique's last season expanded from two to three productions, and two of their productions were smash hits financially and critically and had extended runs. Theo Ubique garnered 13 Jeff Award nominations and won seven awards with six of those for top artistic elements for "Evita." Productions for the 2009-10 season are "The Taming of the Shrew," which just closed October 4; "Man of La Mancha," opening October 18; a staged workshop light opera of Jean Paul Sartre's "No Exit," running the last two weekends in January, and "Chess," opening March 8, 2010.
