Adirondack Theatre Festival's 23rd Summer Season Announced: ATF 2017: SEE SOMETHING NEW

Vienna Juvenile, Chicago's acclaimed sketch comedy trio, is performing as part of Adirondack Theatre Festival's 23rd season of professional theater. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 26-Tuesday, June 27, in the cabaret space of the Charles R. Wood Theater.

Vienna Juvenile's original live comedy features an emotionally-driven, absurd perspective on everyday life. They were named "a little wacky, a little absurdist, a little sincere" by The Sketch Review and "excellent and heartfelt" by Chicago Reader.

The writers and performers are founding members Layne Dixon, Anthony Smith and Hank Greene. Greene is playwright of Knights of the Sales Office, a comedy that is also being performed at ATF this season.

"In a word, this show is big: big characters, big laughs and, most importantly, big heart," said Greene. "Our goal as a group is to tell stories through our sketch comedy that we feel will be relatable to everyone, from audiences in Chicago to the amazing ATF community in Glens Falls, and this show is the most dynamic and hilarious collection of stories we've ever put together. We've also done our best to really make the audience feel like they're a part of this show, that they're not just passive spectators but are actively going on the journey with us, which we think makes it all the more delightful an evening for people to be a part of."

Bios

Layne Dixon (Writer/Ensemble) has appeared with Vienna Juvenile in the original revues Journey Into Hindsight, Who Do I Give This Money To, Orbit and The Adventures of Reginald Sampson (and the consequence of bliss). Other credits include The Second City Conservatory show, Comedy Train, Strapped In at the Annoyance Theatre, independent improv group Dinner for Yesterday and The Second City's student writing 6 show, Love, Security and Other Mythical Creatures. Originally from Atlanta, Layne is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory and previous member of Indiana University's Awkward Silence Comedy.

Hank Greene (Writer/Ensemble) has appeared with Vienna Juvenile in the original revues Journey Into Hindsight, Who Do I Give This Money To, Orbit and The Adventures of Reginald Sampson (and the consequence of bliss). In addition to his work with Vienna Juvenile, Hank is an award-winning playwright whose work includes three productions of The Blizzard from 2012 - 2014 (Bloomington Playwrights Project), two productions of The Vintage Scenes from 2012 - 2013 (Bloomington Playwrights Project), Death Metal Family Radio Hour (Indianapolis Fringe Festival 2013), Death Metal Podcast for Kids (Indianapolis Fringe Festival 2014), along with his work on Washington D.C.-based mentalist Max Major's show, Think Again (Adirondack Theatre Festival). His short play, Little Bunny Honk Honk took home the Audience Choice Award at "The BPP Playoffs" at the Bloomington Playwrights Project. His work, Knights of the Sales Office, won the Reva Shriner Comedy Award and is also being performed in Adirondack Theatre Festival's 23rd season. Hank serves as Resident Playwright and Literary Associate for the Bloomington Playwrights Project, as well as the Literary Manager at the Adirondack Theatre Festival.

Anthony Smith (Writer/Ensemble) has appeared with Vienna Juvenile in the original revues Journey Into Hindsight, Who Do I Give This Money To, Orbit and The Adventures of Reginald Sampson (and the consequence of bliss). When not working in Vienna Juvenile, Anthony is a filmmaker and a playwright. He is an alumnus of Indiana University's Awkward Silence Comedy, where he was president and a playing member with Vienna Juvenile ensemble member Layne Dixon from 2008-2012. His playwriting credits include Silent Night and Black Tie Affair. Black Tie Affair was a selection for Bloomington Playwright Project's New Undergraduate Plays of the Midwest Showcase. After its showcase at Bloomington Playwright's Project, it was published by the Writers' Guild of Bloomington.

Founded in 1994, ATF is a non-profit, professional theater. Each summer ATF produces a season of theater for an audience of both locals and tourists (9,000+) using professional artists from New York City and across the country.
