Actors Training Center (ATC) - the acting school in residence at the Wilmette Theatre - is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Goldstein to its summer Musical Theatre Intensive overseeing as musical theatre director the production of BIG: The Musical. Goldstein invites students entering grades 7th-12th in the fall to the open casting ofBIG call on February 20th from 1pm-3pm at the Wilmette Theatre.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have someone of Adam's exceptional ability lead our team and work with our students," says Carole Dibo, ATC Director. "We are confident that his professionalism, skill and energy, along with his fresh ideas and enthusiasm, will bring ATC to new levels of accomplishment and success."

Directed by Goldstein, with New York Choreography by Emily Maltby and Musical Direction by David Pollak, ATC's BIG will give students the summer of a lifetime with the musical based on the hit film about a boy who dreams of being big. However, as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.

During the intensive, Goldstein will oversee all aspects of the production while helping to instill in the actors a continued love of theatre, an excitement for performance, and a willingness to collaborate. "We will be further developing their skills and helping them become the triple threat performers that they want to be," said Goldstein.

ATC's summer musical theatre program is an intensive four-week training anchored in the core belief of the school, which believes that growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous. Impassioned acting rooted in craft is most essential in the pivotal moment when a scene becomes a song. Students will strengthen their performance skills while developing their ability to interpret dramatic text in the musical theatre form.

Prior to completing his MFA at Northwestern, Goldstein was the Artistic Associate at Bristol Riverside Theatre in Bristol, PA in which he oversaw the conception, programming, production, direction, and funding for BRT's first new/contemporary staged reading and work development series, "America Rising: Voices of Today." This series brought playwrights such as Zakiyyah Alexander, Michael Elyanow, and Quiara Hudes to Bristol for the first time and placed the writers and their socially conscious works into conversation with theatre patrons, community leaders, and cultural partners. Established BRT's first major University partnership with Temple University's MFA acting program, whose students formed the America Rising company. In addition, Goldstein served as production Dramaturg on Copenhagen and Dear World. As In-house Casting Director for America Rising company, Goldstein facilitated all agent/casting submissions, scheduled all AEA auditions and callbacks both locally and in NYC as well as maintained casting files.

Goldstein holds an MFA in Directing from Northwestern University and a BFA in Acting from New York University, School of the Arts-CAP 21.
