AFT'spremier fundraising event will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the School of the Art Institute Ballroom, 112 S. Michigan Ave., at 6:30 pm with a VIP reception at 5:30 pm. "The Wonka Ball has always been one of Chicago's most fun, dynamic, over-the-top fundraising events," comments About Face Executive Director Jason Held. "But this year, we also use the occasion to mark the historic passage of Illinois' Civil Union Act and celebrate AFT's 15th anniversary as a leader in Chicago's theatre community," adds Held.
WONKA BALL's 600 guests will be treated like queens and kings at this year's stunning new party venue where the evening will include a silent auction, open bar, mouth-watering edibles from some of Chicago's best restaurants including Atwood Café, Garrett Popcorn, J&L Catering, Polo Café, Terry's Toffees and more. WONKA BALL wouldn't be complete without plenty of music, dancing, entertainment and of course lots of surprises-including a "Wonka-style" visit from Queen Elizabeth herself! WONKA will also include the presentation of the Leppen Leadership Awards.
