Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces today the extension of A Midsummer Night's Dream, now playing in the Courtyard Theater through February 3, 2019. Staged by internationally acclaimed director Joe Dowling, Shakespeare's beloved comedy is infused with raucous humor, dazzling dance numbers, and eclectic musical score blending rock, jazz, blues, rock, and '50s doo-wop.
A multi-talented company of twenty-two artists notably features Grey's Anatomy alum T.R. Knight as Bottom-as well as Alexandra Silber(Titania/Hippolyta), Edward O'Blenis (Theseus/Oberon), Cristina Panfilio (Helena), Tyrone Phillips (Lysander), Melisa Soledad Pereyra (Hermia),Eric Schabla (Demetrius), and Sam Kebede (Puck).
Portraying the amateur theatrical troupe known as "The Mechanicals" alongside T.R. Knight are Jonathan Butler-Duplessis (Snout), Joe Dempsey(Peter Quince), William Dick (Egeus/Snug), Sara Sevigny (Starveling), and Alec Silver (Francis Flute). Also featured in the ensemble are Adrienne Storrs as the First Fairy, as well as Ethan Deppe, Michael Ferraro, Luke Halpern, Andrew MacNaughton, Jarais Musgrove, Michael Rawls, KJ Sheldon, and Lauren Smith.
Dowling is joined on the creative team by Composer and Music Director Keith Thomas, Scenic Designer Todd Rosenthal, Costume Designer Fabio Toblini, Lighting Designers Jesse Klug and Greg Hofmann, Sound Designer Christopher M. LaPorte, and Wig and Make-Up Designer Richard Jarvie. Completing the creative team are Choreographer Joe Chvala, Verse Coach Kevin Gudahl, and Assistant Director Erin Kraft.
