Bridget Adams-King is currently taking the stage as Lucy Parsons in Underscore Theatre Company's and The Den Theatre's HAYMARKET. She took some time to reflect on her Chicago theater experiences with 10 On Tuesday.
Show you first auditioned for (and did you get the part)? The first show I auditioned for was PETER PAN in fourth grade. I definitely was hoping for the role of Wendy but got Pirate #2, so I'd say it's pretty clear who the winner was there (pst it was definitely me!).
Where are you originally from? I am from Western Springs, Illinois, a suburb outside of Chicago.
When did you first know you wanted a career in theater? One of the clearest memories of knowing this is what I wanted to do was seeing WICKED (cliché, I know) but I remember realizing this is something important and special. I knew then, theater was not only something I wanted to be a part of but had to be. I wanted to inspire and make an impact for others just as those actors had done for me.
What's your dream role production? There are SO many! For today, let's say Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY TODD or Rose in DOGFIGHT.
Favorite post-performance haunt? Luckily, I don't have one!?!
Living or dead, who would you drop everything to see perform? Again, so many. But I'd say Audra McDonald, she is definitely one of my idols!
What's your greatest vice/guilty pleasure? Food!!! I'm such a foodie!
What are you currently listening to/watching/reading?I have been reading Chrissy Metz's book THIS IS ME, and it is beautiful!! I am such a fan of her's and of her show, THIS IS US.
The one song you don't ever want to hear someone perform at an audition: "Defying Gravity"
Describe the Chicago theater community in three words: Powerful, Generous, Bold
