Happy Tuesday, all!

BroadwayWorld Chicago is bringing you 10 on Tuesday, featuring artists in and around Chicago. This week's questionnaire filler-outer - Victory Gardens' Monty Cole.

1) Go-to audition song or monologue? Oh jeez, it's been a while. But when I was auditioning it was Insurrection: Holding History by Robert O'Hara. Always a single tear came down at the same spot in the monologue.

2) Where Are You From? Oak Park, IL

3) Currently Working On / Recently Closed? I directed The Hairy Ape by Eugene O'Neill at Oracle Productions.

4) What's your dream production? Oh God. There's a lot. I'll say one that will never happen. When I was in college, my favorite movie was The Matrix and I've always sort of been fascinated by doing the impossible on stage. I had this dream that I would direct a no holds barred, completely sincere, no winking at the audience production of The Matrix. I would have the audience in the round and when the bullet time moments happened, the seating bays would rotate around the action. Mind blown, right?

5) Favorite post-performance haunt? Red Lion across from Victory Gardens! A lot of great Chicago theater history there.

6) Living or dead, who would you drop everything to see perform? This has been proven to not really be true because I've missed a few, but I'd drop close to anything to see James Vincent Meredith or Alana Arenas.

7) Who's your biggest inspiration? It changes month to month, but probably Ivo van Hove and Tarell Alvin McCraney

8) Describe the Chicago community in three words. Honest Familial Grounded

9) Fill in the blank: "If I could change one thing about theatre in Chicago, it would be ..... how limited in variety our definition of successful theater can be. Across the world, we've seen artists expand what theater is by talking about the work as experiences guided by narrative. I'm excited by companies like Rabbit Hole and projects like The Last Defender at The House Theater that take us a step forward into the future."

10) Fill in the blank: "The thing I'd never change about theatre in Chicago is ....... I've never ever ever felt like it's every artist for themselves here. Especially as we grow initiatives like the Chicago Inclusion Project and redefine what it means to be an ensemble member for a theater company, Chicago is becoming the most inclusive artist community in the country."
