WIP Productions presents Vanities

Vanities is a comedy-drama written by Jack Heifner that premiered in New York City in 1976. Watch Mary, Kathy and Joanne's lives and friendship grow and change starting from high school cheerleaders in Texas in 1963, continuing through college as sorority sisters in 1968, and ending in New York City in 1974.

Vanities had a long Off-Broadway run - over 1300 performances. Recommended for ages 16+ Strong language and frank discussion of sexual situations.

This bittersweet comedy is an astute, snapshot-sharp chronicle of the lives of three Texas girls. In 1963, Joanne, Kathy, and Mary are aggressively vivacious cheerleaders. Five years later in their college sorority house, they are confronting their futures with nervous jauntiness. In 1974, they reunite briefly in New York. Their lives have diverged and their friendship, which once thrived on assumptions as well-coordinated as sweater sets, is strained and ambiguous. Old time banter rings false. Their attempts at honest conversation only show they can no longer afford to have very much in common.

WIP Productions is an independent theater company based in the Charlotte area since 2010. Come join us in the intimate Black Box Theatre at The Arts Factory in Charlotte, NC this October.

Show dates Friday 10/11, Saturday 10/12, Sunday 10/13, Friday 10/18, Saturday 10/19, Sunday 10/20. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 2:30   .https://www.ticketleap.events/.../vanities-by-jack-heifner
