The Thin Place

THE THIN PLACE is the story of two women, Hilda and Linda. Linda communicates, professionally, with the dead, who are still here, just in a different part of here, in the "thin place." Hilda, a keen listener and observer who’s grappling with loss, takes a great interest in Linda’s abilities. She befriends the veteran medium, seeking answers that lie across the fragile boundary between our world and the other one.

Written by Lucas Hnath (A DOLLS HOUSE PART II), the play transforms the theater into an intimate séance, crafting an unnerving testament to the power of the mind.

Founded in 2022 by horror fan, Charlotte native, and long-time performing arts professional, Chris Stonnell, POST MORTEM PLAYERS is a theatre company specializing in stage works of horror, the macabre, and things that go bump in the night. PMP was recently named the 2024 Theatre Company of the Year by the Metrolina Theatre Association.

Cast and Creative team for The Thin Place at Post Mortem Players - OCT Black Box

Cast

Kara Barnette

Hilda
Kara Barnette (she/her) loves all things horror & this show has been extra special to her. You may have seen her at Old Courthouse Theatre as Dr. Einstein in "Arsenic & Old Lace," Miss Sandra in “All Shook Up,” or Alice Beineke in “Addams Family.” She enjoyed being a part of PMP's inaugural Hallowine & Christmas Spirit performances in 2022. She sends big love to her husband, Alex, and dedicates this performance to her mom. Her mother passed 2 years ago, but they still communicate because she's always listening...

Victoria Powell

Linda
Victoria is grateful for the opportunity to appear in this unique and very special little play with Post Mortem Players, and she hopes you’ll enjoy the journey with her. Victoria majored in Theater Arts at the University of Cincinnati and has had the privilege through the years to portray some great characters such as Blanche Dubois in “A Streetcar Named Desire”, Martha in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, and Ruth Condomine in “Blithe Spirit”. She would like to thank Holly for all the guidance and creativity, Jackie for her support and hard work, and the rest of the cast for being so strong to be onstage with. Lots of love to her two wonderful daughters Angie and Hilary, to Alex, and to her grandsons Jameson and Jensen who make life bright and sweet. Wolfie and Bowie, I’ll be home soon for your nightly walk.

Sara Lee

Sylvia
Sara is returning to the theater for the first time since Covid, and while 5 years is just enough time to become rusty, she has reveled in the opportunity to play once again! Previously, she would have been seen in several productions at Lee Street Theater of Salisbury including roles in Boeing Boeing, Kimberly Akimbo, Parchman Hour and more. The Old Courthouse Theater and the cast and director for The Thin Place has reignited her desire to perform and she is grateful for the opportunity to not only play, but to also become a part of the Concord community. Sara is Mom to son Gabe (14) and works as a kitchen and bath designer.

Jon Bowlby

Jerry
Jon is thrilled be be taking the stage in his first PMP production. He is no stranger to regional stages as he has worked with theaters here in Concord as well as Salisbury, Charlotte and Albemarle. Please enjoy the show.
