V-Day Charlotte to hold V-Day Neighborhood Hop

V-Day Charlotte will kick off V-Day 2010 weekend with the V-Day Charlotte Neighborhood Hop Festival in the atrium of Amélie's French Bakery (2424 N. Davidson Street 28205) on February 11th, 2010 from 6pm to 10pm. The festival will include a live performance of A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer written by Various artists including Eve Ensler author of The Vagina Monologues and screenings of the documentary films Until the Violence Stops and What I Want My Words to Do to You. In addition to the performances and film viewings the festival will host assorted vendors, and live art exhibits. Tickets are $10 general admission and will be available for sale after January 4th 2010 at www.vdaycharlotte.org.

V-Day Charlotte 2010 promises to be the greatest show on earth as CAST (Carolina Actors Studio Theatre 1118 Clement Ave, 28205) winners of the 2009 MTA award for theater of the year, will play gracious host to performances of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues February 12-13, 2010 at 8pm. A matinee performance of the theatrical powerhouse Any One of Us: Words from Prison written by women currently serving time in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in upstate New York will round out V-weekend on February 14, 2010 at 2pm. Tickets for all three shows are available for purchase ($15/$17) at www.nccast.com. V-Day was created over 10 years ago by Eve Ensler to raise funds and awareness to end violence against women around the world. All the proceeds from V-Day Charlotte events (less production costs to be kept at 6¢ on the dollar) will benefit the United Family Services Battered Women's Shelter and the V-Day Campaign.
