While the streets of the Vista are bustling with people hopping from bar to bar seeking nightlife and entertainment, Trustus Theatre will provide both as the bar opens and TOAST, Columbia and USC's premiere improve troupe takes the stage for their "Ten Year Reunion". Toast will perform an evening of improv comedy on Saturday April 9th, at 11:15pm. The doors will open at 10:45pm, following the performance of Assassins.

In 2001, Matt Lang and Whit Nelson founded TOAST. While they were both into it, Whit wasn't sure that the group would last very long. He figured it would eventually disappear. Matt disagreed. Whit, in an effort to back up his notion, said that if TOAST was still around ten years later, he would eat a chicken sandwich despite the fact that he is a dedicated vegetarian. Now Whit will have to literally eat his words. Even though Whit can't be at the reunion, you can bet he will be eating that chicken.

TOAST is still one of the most popular improv groups in Columbia, with every show becoming standing-room only. As 2011 approached, past and present members of the group began plans for their "Ten Year Reunion". Since many of the members had some affiliation with Trustus Theatre, the show was brought to the Vista's eclectic theatrical house.

The show will include the traditional short form games Toast has always played along with some surprise performances. This is a major celebration with former members traveling from all over the country to attend. Former Toast members have gone on to attend schools and perform for major comedy institutions throughout the nation (Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade) and perform stand-up comedy in Chicago, NYC, and LA. Many continue to work as actors/performers, many have gone on to a completely different field, but most are returning to celebrate the insanity that began on USC's campus ten years ago.

For those unfamiliar with the world of Improv, they are probably familiar with the popular television show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, a short form improv comedy show on many networks now in syndication. Much like that show, TOAST invites the audience to supply suggestions which becoming the jumping off points for short hilarious scenes which are created impromtu in front of the audience's eyes.

The TOAST Ten Year Reunion comes to the Trustus Main Stage Saturday April 9th, at 11:15pm. Doors open at 10:45pm following the performance of Assassins. Hopeful attendees are encouraged to arrive early as TOAST is known to pack the house of the Trustus Main Stage for every performance. Don't miss a unique late night option in entertainment right here in the Capital City.

Trustus Theatre is located at 520 Lady Street, behind the Gervais St. Publix. Parking is available on Lady St. The main stage entrance is located on the Publix side of the building.
