The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center recently announced three new shows featuring the biggest names in comedy and concerts. From the rock-inspired Levon Helm Band to political comedian Bill Maher to actor/musician Harry Connick Jr., there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Tickets are on sale now for the Levon Helm Band and can be purchased online at BlumenthalCenter.org, by phone at 704-372-1000 or from the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Box Office located in the Tryon Street lobby of the Belk Theater. Tickets for Bill Maher go on sale Friday, April 9, and tickets for Harry Connick Jr. & Orchestra go on sale Friday, April 16.

Levon Helm is an American rock multi-insturmentalist and actor who achieved fame as the drummer and frequently lead and backing vocalist for the R&B/rock group The Band. Helm is known for his deeply soulful, country-accented voice, and creative drumming style highlighted on many of the The Band's recordings, such as "The Weight", "Up On Cripple Creek", "Ophelia" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." His 2007 comeback album "Dirt Farmer" earned the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album in February 2008, and in November of that year, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him #91 in the list of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. In 2010, "Electric Dirt", his 2009 follow-up to Dirt Farmer, won the first ever Grammy Award for Best Americana Album, an inaugural category in 2010.

Political comedian, talk-show host, and best-selling author Bill Maher returns to Charlotte for a show that promises to have you thinking every bit as hard as you laugh. One of the most politically astute comedians in America today, Maher's unflinching honesty and commitment to never pulling a punch have garnered him the respect and admiration of millions of fans.

Timeless songs and the unprecedented talent that is Harry Connick, Jr combine for what is sure to be an unforgettable concert experience this June at the Belk Theater. Featuring works from Harry Connick's latest album, Your Songs, a collaboration with a legendary producer Clive Davis, this one-night only concert is built around pop ballads interpreted in a thoroughly unique and striking way by Connick and his swinging Big Band. This work particularly highlights Connick's skills as a singer.
