Festival Stage of Winston-Salem begins its run of Joan Vail Thorne's Southern family comedy, "The Exact Center of the Universe," on October 21 at 7:30 pm with a final dress rehearsal performance following which audiences get to meet the cast and the playwright, all for $12 a ticket. The $12 ticket rate will also be offered at two ‘New York style' Wednesday matinee performances, October 26 and November 2 at 2:00 pm.
The best ticket price news continues with the deal of all deals, a new ‘nose bleed section,' (still really good seats) at the rear of the Hanesbrands Theatre proscenium seating section, for only $10 a ticket at each full-price ticket performance. Preview performances, October 23 at 2:00 pm, October 25 and 26 at 7:30 pm, offer the next best discounted opportunity to enjoy the show, at $18 per ticket, any seating.
The opportunity to meet with playwright Joan Vail Thorne extends to each performance during the beginning weekend, October 21 - 23. She and director Steve Umberger will speak to the audience beginning at 1:15 pm immediately prior to the October 23, 2:00 pm matinee. Ms. Thorne will also be a visiting speaker for the Winston-Salem Writers group at their October 20 meeting at 7:00 pm in the lobby of the Hanesbrands Theatre. This talk on playwriting does not include a performance, however, the opportunity is free and open to the public to attend.
Festival Stage also invites audience members to meet the artists involved in staging "The Exact Center of the Universe" for Preshow Talks beginning at 1:15 pm in the Hanesbrands Theatre lobby prior to 2:00 pm performances on Sundays, October 30 and November 6. Immediately following each 8:00 pm weekend performance on October 28 - 29 and November 4 - 5, members of The Acting Company will return to the stage for Postshow Talkbacks with audience members.
