For professional and vocational actors, Singing for Actors, being held this summer at Queens University of Charlotte, introduces singing in a way that will be useful for any singer. Classes will instruct on vocal anatomy and how to use the voice for characters and in song for musicals.
The workshop will run on Wednesdays from May 5th to May 26th from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. Workshops will take place on the Queens University main campus and will cost $120 per participant.
The University will also host a series of Pop Styles training for singers. his class is designed for voice teachers and/or experienced singers wishing to learn voice technique and styles specific to Pop, Jazz, Music Theature, R&B, and Rock 'n Roll. This class is not for beginners.
The class will run May 21st and 22nd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Friday and 9:30am to 12:00pm and 1:30pm to 4:30 pm Saturday. Workshops will take place on the Queens University main campus and will cost $140 per participant.
Instructing the classes is Julie Martin Dean. Julie has a B.M. in voice from Queens University and a M.M. from Withrop University; is a member of the Opera Carolina Chorus and the National Assoc. of Teachers of Singing; and was certified this summer at the Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Institute of Shenandoah University.
