The Flat Rock Playhouse presents Lerner and Loewe's classic musical, My Fair Lady from June 12 through July 13 on the Clyde and Nina Allen Mainstage. Sponsored by Tryon Estates and Ace Hardware, My Fair Lady is part of the "Season of Laughter and Love" presented by the Cliffs Communities, and considered to be the standard by which all other musicals are measured.

Based upon George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, My Fair Lady tells the story of how

The story is set in early 20th century London, inspiring the Playhouse's design professionals to artfully balance the traditions of the period with the presentation of a "fresh, more contemporary aesthetic," says Director Lisa K. Bryant.

Set Designer Dennis Mauldin and Costume Designer Janine McCabe have worked together to create an atmosphere for the show that pays respect to the styles and fashions of the actual period, but with a little punch. "From the moment we decided to produce the show, we knew that we wanted it to be a costume menagerie," says Bryant. Because the costumes will be the center of the show, Mauldin crafted a set almost entirely of white and grey tones, allowing for the colorful costumes designed by McCabe to pop on stage.

The show will feature design elements that are all created to complement the costumes; the result will be a wonderfully told story that will dazzle and delight patrons.

The show is directed by Interim Producing Artistic Director for the Playhouse, Lisa K. Bryant who began her career with Flat Rock Playhouse as an Apprentice in 1994. Since then she has played a myriad of roles including intern, actor, teacher, writer, and Apprentice director. While at the Playhouse, Bryant has directed RENT, School House Rock Live!, Once On This Island, and her self-written play, Princess Reform School. She will also be directing the performance for this year's Dark Night Revue, the official fundraiser for the Flat Rock Playhouse.

Cast members are Brian Robinson, Gary Troy, Wendy Jones, Scott Pattison, Mary Jo McConnell, Jane Bushway, Stacie Bono, Taylor Collins, Eddie Egan, and Paul Carlin.

Music Director is Michael Sebastian. Assistant Music Director is Ethan Andersen. Set design is by Dennis C. Mauldin. Costume design is by Janine McCabe. Lighting design is by Stephen Terry. Sound design is by Nick Kourtides.
