The Flat Rock Playhouse and the North Carolina State Theatre Garden Club Members will host their annual Plant Sale on Friday, September 21st from 9 AM - 4 PM and Saturday, September 22nd from 9 AM - 1 PM at the Flat Rock Playhouse Mainstage. Throughout the year, these Master Gardeners of Henderson County meticulously tend and creatively develop the beautiful gardens and landscaping that cover the iconic Flat Rock and elevate the grounds of the historic Playhouse.
Each year at the Plant Sale, the public is invited to take a piece of these idyllic gardens home, explore the grounds, and learn more about local flora. All proceeds benefit the Flat Rock Playhouse and ensure that the North Carolina Garden Club Members can continue to enhance the gardens year after year. This volunteer group, managed and lead by Tamsin Allpress, provides the Flat Rock Playhouse and Flat Rock community with not only beautiful gardens to explore but also with a wealth of knowledge on the maintenance and care of each individual plant.
Attendees can expect over 60 varieties of plants available for purchase as well as hand-crafted garden signs, Mason bee-house habitats, Harry Lauder walking stick twigs, everlasting stakes made out of vinyl albums, seeds and spring flowering bulbs to order including the fabulous allium schubertii.
On Friday morning, there will also be a Master Gardener 'Ask-Me-A-Question' tent, which is the perfect opportunity to seek garden tips from the experts. A tree specialist will be on hand, as well.
The Plant Sale is also the perfect time to take a walk around the gardens, take a book from the Little Free Library, smile at the recent goats who have been spotted in the gardens, and take a photo of yourself with the topiary of Flat Rock Playhouse founder, Robroy Farquhar, the original Vagabond that now stands in the gardens along side statues of his dog, Boots, and cat, Snodgrass.
The Flat Rock Playhouse Mainstage is located in the Village of Flat Rock at 2661 Greenville Hwy Flat Rock, NC 28731.
