Festival Stage of Winston-Salem, Winston-Salem's new professional theatre company, announces a $90,000 gift to support the start of its second exciting season of productions.
A donor who wishes to remain anonymous approached Wil Elder, Festival Stage's new President & CEO, with an interest in making a substantial gift in honor of the company's successful inaugural season and due to the excitement surrounding the arrival of Elder.
"We are thrilled to serve the Winston-Salem community as a cultural resource and it is humbling to be recognized for our work in this manner," said Elder. "This wonderful city continues to open its arms to us and we look forward to a long and very bright future."
According to Pedro Silva, Artistic and Managing Director, "The anonymous gift comes at a perfect time in Festival Stage's season, when we are about to start production for our first show, The Exact Center of the Universe. The funds will bolster our production by supporting the hiring of professional actors, purchasing materials for scenery and costumes and contracting designers and technicians."
Exact Center will be followed by the musical, Oil City Symphony and then the new farce, Hatchetman. For more information on the productions or to purchase tickets, please visit Festival Stage's website at festivalstage.org.
Festival Stage was founded in the spring of 2010. Its goal is to innovatively produce and market high quality professional theatre productions that invigorate the community and region socially, artistically, educationally and economically and that foster Winston-Salem's development as North Carolina's City of Arts and Innovation.
