Due to a family emergency, acclaimed playwright, screenwriter and producer Eric Overmyer will postpone his visit to the Deep Dish Theater, originally scheduled for September 11, until the following Saturday, September 18. A reception in his honor will begin at 6:30 PM in the theater's lobby. Overmyer is visiting Chapel Hill in conjunction with the theater's production of his 1990 play 'Mi Vida Loca,' which is the opening production of the theater's 10th Anniversary Season.
"We're very pleased that Eric could make time in his schedule to come out, see the play and meet our audience," said Paul Frellick, founding Artistic Director of the theater. "It's a great way to celebrate the beginning of our tenth year in Chapel Hill."Known best for his work on such television shows such as Law & Order, The Wire, In Treatment, and most recently Treme, Eric Overmyer began his career as a playwright and continues to write for the stage. He is the recipient of two Writers' Guild Awards, a Humanitas Award, an Emmy nomination and a Mystery Writers of America Award, as well numerous grants and fellowships.
