Three strong and independent African-American women find independence and freedom as pioneers in the American West in Davidson Community Players' Flyin' West by Pearl Cleage. This is a powerful story about the bond of three sisters and their elderly neighbor who face trials and tribulations in the mid-West as homesteaders. This play takes place in the 1890s in Nicodemus, Kansas and is a glimpse into American history and a reminder of the diversity of Western pioneers. It's a dramatic story told with pathos and humor featuring rich characters..

"We're proud to help celebrate Black History month with this powerful production that tells a story about settling the western frontier not frequently told," says Matt Merrell, Executive Director of Davidson Community Players. Long time Charlotte actor and director Sidney Horton is directing the play which will run February 20th through March 9th.

Performances are at Armour Street Theatre in Davidson with shows tonight, February 20th, 21st, 22nd, 27th , 28th, March 1st, March 6th, March 7th, and March 8th at 8pm and Feb. 23rd, March 2nd, and March 9th at 2pm.
