There are two ways to celebrate the holidays at DSI Comedy Theater this year. This year, the theatre is welcoming audiences into the theatre for Home for the Holidays, an improvised comedy show and a Holiday Sketchtravaganza, a series of holiday related comic sketches. The shows run every Friday, throughout December. The tickets cost $10 and are available online at www.dsicomedy.com or by calling 919-338-8150. DSI Comedy Theater is located at 200 N. Greensboro Street, located in the Carr Mill Mall between Elmo's and Southern Rail.
Fridays begin with the Holiday Sketchtravaganza. Each week, audiences will laugh their way through the holidays while discovering the perils of mistletoe, learning how Santa Clause deals with his own existence and hearing about this year's hot toy. This show is directed by David Greenslade and John Reitz. The cast includes: Ian Ager, Linda Bowerman, David Greenslade, Shaun Patrick Flynn, Laura Morrison, Oliver Riera, John Reitz, and PT Scarborough.
After the discoveries of the Holiday Sketchtravaganza, audiences can air their family holiday dirt in a comedic way. Home for the Holidays is a high energy, interactive show about the audience's holiday experiences. Each week, audiences give performers suggestions of crazy holiday stories from their holidays with family to create a hysterically truthful show. This show is directed by DSI Comedy Theater Artistic Director Paula Pazderka. The cast includes: Tom Keller, Rick Skarbez, Aaron Keck, Jonathan Yeomans, Sarah Elred, Kevin Browning, and Alan Goldstein.

For the last 12 years DSI Comedy Theater has produced and presented one of the largest comedy festivals on the East Coast, the annual North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. Each year, the festival welcomes improv, stand-up and sketch comedians to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. The festival features workshops and performances from talent that has been seen on the small screen on Saturday Night Live, MTV, Late Show with David Letterman, Comedy Central, and on stages at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and Second City. As the festival grew, DSI found itself a home and in 2005, opened the DSI Comedy Theater, an 84-seat venue in North Carolina, and the company's new home for shows and the DSI Training Center. The festival and theatre have attracted high level instructors in improvisation and stand-up comedy including: Eddie Brill, Asaf Ronen, Jeff Griggs, Eric Hunicutt, Kevin Patrick Robbins, Anthony King and Jill Bernard. From the DSI Comedy Training Center and Theater in Carrboro, NC to its productions in Chicago, and professional Touring Company, the DSI name has spread around the country, drawing both participants and quality teaching staff to its theater and to the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival year after year.
