DSI Comedy Theater is preparing audiences to go back to school this Fall with the debut of The Forefathers: All American Sketch. This sketch comedy review will take audiences through the highlights of American History in a way no textbook has ever shown them. The show will run at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 19 and Thursday, August 26. Tickets cost $10. DSI Comedy Theater is located at 200 N. Greensboro St, in the Carr Mill Mall between Elmo's and Southern Rail. More information is available at www.DSIcomedy.com.

The Forefathers is a sketch comedy show inspired by American historical events and figures, ranging from the Founding Fathers to (almost) the present day. Writer Aaron Keck was inspired by a few improv scenes he did early this year in which he played various historical figures. Keck, a political science professor at Duke, has a PhD in Political Science and specializes in American thought.

A recent preview of this hilarious new show included: a parody of Yankee Doodle, a bit with an obscure president (Rutherford B. Hayes), a recurring bit in which Hessian mercenaries taunt George Washington as he tries to cross the Delaware, a mashed-up presidential speech comprised entirely of great presidential quotes (think "Yes we can speak softly and carry a big weapon of mass destruction, with malice towards none and charity for all"), and a scene at the Constitutional Convention featuring a biker-dude George Washington, a whiny six-year-old James Madison, and a dead Ben Franklin. Other sketches will likely include "Historical Lost and Found," in which the performers give away all the "lost" items of American history--the lost colony of Roanoke, Mary Todd Lincoln's mind, Amelia Earhart, our innocence, the Vietnam
War, etc, and "Wide World of Political Assassinations," featuring Howard Cosell live from Dallas.

The show is co-directed by Zannie Gunn and Rick Skarbez. The cast includes Keck, Kevin Browning, Kit FitzSimons, Ted Hobgood, PT Scarborough, Jeffrey Scronce, and Fiona Stewart-Taylor.
