Charlotte Symphony Presents THE RITE OF SPRING In Partnership With Charlotte Ballet Image

In an exciting partnership unlike any other in the community, the Charlotte Symphony connects the orchestra and professional ballet choreography with Charlotte-Mecklenburg students to present Igor Stravinsky's revolt-inspiring Rite of Spring.

Celebrated choreographer Peter Chu, known for his work with Orlando Ballet, METDance, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and FOX television's "So You Think You Can Dance," leads the choreography with students from Charlotte Ballet's award-winning scholarship dance program Reach, as wells as Charlotte Ballet's Second Company.

Under the artistic leadership of Charlotte Symphony Music Director Christopher Warren-Green and Charlotte Ballet Artistic Director Hope Muir, this community collaboration will culminate in a mainstage performance on April 6-7, 2018, at Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Music as a catalyst for the promotion of self-esteem, discipline, a strong work ethic, and an appreciation for the arts directly ties into the Charlotte Symphony's mission. The Charlotte Symphony also will offer several free community educational opportunities in partnership with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, led by distinguished musicologist and Harvard professor Thomas Kelly, exploring the emotive and revolutionary power of music."
