Get into the spirit of the holidays with "The Story of the Little Gentleman," a delightful tale about the true meaning of friendship making its U.S. debut. This yuletide treat opens at CTC Dec. 13 and runs through Dec. 28, for ages 3+.
Based on the book by award-winning author Barbro Lindgren, nobody seems to have time for the little gentleman, which makes him sad. But he soon discovers a wonderful new friend who changes his life forever. This beautiful, funny and moving tale features live musicians and a uniquely intimate style all its own.
"We're thrilled to bring to our community this quiet alternative to traditional holiday fare," said director Mark Sutton. "It's a challenge and a great privilege as theatre artists to get the opportunity to tell such a story with so little dialogue. Along with joy and wonder, the gentle little man in this play experiences feelings of jealousy, rejection, loneliness and sorrow. It takes the friendship of a rag-a-muffin dog to awake within him an awareness of the wondrous world around him and to bring him out of his self-pity."
The production stars Hank West ("Balloonacy") as the title character, Amy Arpan as the dog, and Tanja Bechtler, Nicole Jasper and Tim Parsons as musicians.
