CPCC Theatre will hold auditions for The Piano Lesson on Monday, February 1st and Tuesday February 2nd from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Pease Auditorium on the CPCC Central Campus. August Wilson's The Piano Lesson will be directed by Corlis Hayes.
CPCC Theatre is seeking an all African American cast. All roles are available.
Character Breakdown:
Doaker: 40's-60's life time railroad man, great storyteller
Boy Willie: 30's loud, energetic, opinionated, strong-minded
Lymon: 30's Boy Willie's partner, straightforward, and loves the women
Berniece: 30's-early 40's strong willed Christian widow
Avery: 30's-40's storefront preacher
Wining Boy: 40'-50's piano/blues man; love women, gambling, and drinking
Grace: 20's- early 30's good time gal
Maretha: 11 years old daughter of Berniece
Be prepared to do a cold reading from the script. A one minute monologue is optional. Please bring a headshot or recent picture, resume or list of theatrical experiences and a list of conflicts for the February-April time period.
You do not have to be a current CPCC student to participate. College credit is available to those who qualify.
Rehearsals will begin February 10th. The Piano Lesson performs April 9-18.
We are also looking for people interested in working backstage, set crew, props, etc.
