CPCC Summer Theatre, Charlotte's only professional summer stock theatre, will kickoff its 39th season with the Tony award-winning musical "Guys and Dolls" on June 15.
Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, "Guys & Dolls" is an oddball romantic comedy that is considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy. The story follows an upright but uptight "mission doll" who is determined to reform the evildoers of Time Square, but is instead wooed on a bet by a professional gambler; a perpetually engaged showgirl who constantly chases her gambler fiancé, a man responsible for leading the longest-running floating crap game in New York City; and a host of perennial hucksters, Hot Box girls and "sinners" who combine to make "Guys & Dolls" a comic soufflé of song and dance.
Performances are June 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 8 p.m.; June 17 at 2:30 p.m.; June 19 at 7 p.m.; June 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m.. At the Dale F. Halton Theater, CPCC Central Campus, 1206 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte.
Tickets are $22, $18 and a $10 ticket is available for children under 14 with the purchase of an adult ticket. Tickets may be purchased online at tix.cpcc.edu, at the CPCC Box Office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Friday or by calling 704.330.6534.
