CPCC Opera Theatre will present a modern 1960s interpretation of Verdi's "La Traviata" this November on the College's Halton Theater stage.
Based on the works of Alexandre Dumas, "La Traviata" or "The Fallen One" is a timeless story, featuring glorious music (to be sung in English), a poignant romance and a tearful ending.
Maestro Alan Yamamoto, formerly with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, will conduct and lead the production's orchestra and cast – featuring Heather Rodgers as the beautiful "kept-woman," Violetta; Thabang Masango as Alfred, her true love; and James McClure, as the father who denies them their right to love each other – through this more than 150-year-old opera.
To celebrate theopening night of "La Traviata" on Nov. 16, a special VIP reception will take place from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. in Room 113 of the Overcash Building on CPCC's Central Campus. Enjoy wine and delicious tastings created by CPCC Baking & Pastry Arts students. A special $15 ticket for the reception (sold separately) is available by calling 704.330.6534. Space is limited.
