The Best of Open Mic Celebration will feature popular acts from past Open Mic shows, as voted by recent Audience members. Admission is FREE to the public, and spectators of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Blumenthal's Open Mic program has continued to grow since its conception in 2013. On select Friday evenings, over 100 performers apply to be one of twenty randomly selected acts to take the stage that night. Past acts include rappers, dancers, poets, magicians, comedians, jugglers, musicians from various genres, and many others.
"The venue and attention to 'amateur' artists is unparalleled to any place I've played for an open mic. It spoils you, honestly," Open Mic performer Leigh Peele said. "The fact that the audience comes out to show support for an unknown night of entertainment shows that they have a lot of trust in the talent of the area, and I think that's pretty amazing."
Open Mic is part of the Whirl initiative at Blumenthal Performing Arts, which encourages and builds active community participation in professional venues through engaging programming.
