Blumenthal Performing Arts is accepting applications from performers for its next OPEN MIC show on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square. Performers from all genres, ages and experience levels are welcome to apply.
Past Open MICs have featured instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers, poets, jugglers, magicians and more. Performance content must be family friendly and not include adult language.
The featured performers will be chosen by lottery from all interested applicants. To be included in the lottery, send an e-mail to openmic@ncbpac.org and include the first and last name of the performer(s), as well as the performance genre by Sept. 4. The artists will be drawn on Sept. 5, and results of the lottery will be emailed to everyone who requested a performance spot.
Blumenthal's Open MIC shows are part of a new initiative called Whirl. WHIRL events are designed to give local artists a chance to showcase their talents on Blumenthal's stages and allow audiences to sample the great talent in the Queen City. WHIRL events are free to the public.
Blumenthal hosts regular Open Mic nights and sponsors National Dance Day in Charlotte. More Whirl events will be added throughout the year.
