Harry Potter is now on Broadway with the Tony Award-winning Best Play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. In the two-part, epic play, based on a story by J.K. Rowling, director John Tiffany, and playwright Jack Tiffany, Harry Potter is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While he grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth - sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Let's face it: live theater is exclusive. Ticket prices are often high, and most professional theaters are clustered in major metropolitan areas, far from the daily lives of millions of Americans. So, in 2012, we launched Playing on Air to radically expand access to theater across the country.
Playing on Air is a new way to experience electric performances and artist interviews on podcast and public radio By producing short, contemporary audio plays, Playing on Air promotes the work of acclaimed and rising-star playwrights, all while encouraging the next generation of theater-makers and theater-lovers. Artists are the heart of our productions. Recent episodes have featured Michelle Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Audra McDonald, John Leguizamo, Adam Driver, Rosie Perez, Chris Cooper, Sam Waterston,Tonya Pinkins, Jim Dale, and Bobby Cannavale in plays by Pulitzer Prize & Tony winners Donald Margulies, Lynn Nottage, David Auburn, John Patrick Shanley, Beth Henley, and David Lindsay-Abaire. Recorded in New York, our episodes are broadcast by public radio stations across 21 states and heard on podcast across America: in writing classes, at senior centers, and on the headphones of busy commuters who crave great storytelling.
