York Little Theatre will present THE 39 STEPS, a hilarious comedy recreated from Alfred Hitchcock's spy thriller, in The Bon Ton Studio January 16-18 & 22-25. Hailed as one of the best comedies ever to hit Broadway, THE 39 STEPS is the perfect play to start out the new year with non-stop laughter! Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and Benny Hill and you have the recipe for a hilarious good time! The play won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience.
Directed by Aaron Dalton, This blissfully funny show follows the incredible adventures of the show's hero, Richard Hannay, complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women. The intimate studio setting makes the audience feel like they are part of the action.
This inventive and gripping comedy thriller features four fearless actors, playing 139 roles in 100 minutes of fast-paced fun and thrilling action. The cast includes Ryan Szwaja as Richard Hannay, Marisa Hoover as Annabella, Pamela and Margaret, Andrew Matseur as Clown 1 and Jeremy Slagle as Clown 2.
