Vocal Icon Johnny Mathis to Celebrate 60th Anniversary with Concert at the State Theatre

With multiple Grammy nominations and 73 songs that have hit the Billboard Charts, Johnny Mathis has been a recording star for more than half a century. On Thursday, September 22nd, that star will shine brightly at the State Theatre in Easton for his 60th Anniversary Concert.

Show time is 7:30 PM. Best-known for his supremely popular hits like "Chances Are," "It's Not For Me To Say," and "Misty", Johnny Mathis has recorded more than 80 albums, 6 Christmas albums, and has sold millions of records worldwide. During his extensive career he has had 3 songs inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, achieved 50 Hits on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, and ranks as the all-time #6 album artist in the history of Billboard's pop album charts. He has received 5 Grammy Nominations, and in 2003 he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Most recent honors and accolades include: 2013 Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award from the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters for Radio & Television; 2013 Induction into the brand new America's Pop Music Hall of Fame; 2014 induction into the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame, as well as receiving the New Standard Award for his continuing career achievements. He continues to be Columbia Records longest signed recording artist.

A star on the small screen as well, Johnny Mathis has taped twelve of his own television specials and made over 300 television guest appearances, with 33 of them being on The Tonight Show. Longtime Tonight Show host Johnny Carson said, "Johnny Mathis is the best ballad singer in the world." In addition to The Tonight Show, Johnny & his music have appeared in numerous films & TV shows, including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Family Ties, and Mad Men.

Comedian and musician Gary Mule Deer has performed on every major concert stage in the U.S. He has made over 350 television appearances including many on both The Tonight Show and The Late Show With David Letterman, and has entertained everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to Royal Albert Hall in London. His unique blend of comedy and music has set him apart as a one-of-a-kind performer. Gary was one of six comedians, along with Jay Leno, to star on the very first HBO comedy special, and was the comedy host of Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on NBC. He has appeared regularly in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Atlantic City, and for over 20 years toured as a special guest with Johnny Mathis in major venues all across the U.S. and Canada.

Opened in 1926 on the vaudeville circuit, the State Theatre is a non-profit, member- supported arts center celebrating 90 Years of WOW during the 2016-2017 season. The fantastic opening week begins with Vince Gill on Sunday, September 18th and continues with Johnny Mathis and BrIan Wilson on Saturday, September 24th.
