Totem Pole Playhouse, Pennsylvania's premiere summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, has announced that for the third year in a row it will offer a special "pay what you can" performance of their current production during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Tickets for this Sunday afternoon's 2 p.m. matinee performance of The Playhouse's critically-acclaimed production of the musical Forever Plaid will be sold exclusively at Totem Pole's box office beginning at 11 a.m. All available seats will be sold to patrons for whatever amount they are able to afford to pay.

Totem Pole's Producing Artistic Director Rowan Joseph said, "We are pleased to continue a tradition which began my first season at The Playhouse of offering folks on a limited budget the opportunity to see one of Totem Pole's high quality musical productions over the Fourth of July weekend." As it did last season with the musical Shenandoah starring Tony Award winner Ben Davis, the summer theatre will offer the popular musical Forever Plaid, featuring a cast of four current students from the prestigious Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM), Louis Griffin, Derek Kastner, Stavros Koumbaros, and Gabe Wrobel as the 'Four Plaids' - a four-part close harmony singing group in the tradition of the Four Freshman, the Four Lads, the Four Aces, and the Hi-Lo's. The show features over 20 hit songs from the 1950s including such classics as: "Three Coins in the Fountain," "Heart and Soul," "Moments to Remember," "Perfidia," and "Love is a Many Splendored Thing." The show, which is being produced by Theatre A Go-Go, Inc., is sponsored by Edward Jones and Richard's Orthopaedic Center and Sports Medicine. Franklin County Visitors Bureau serves as the sponsor for the 2016 season.

Joseph explained that many professional theaters around the country present "pay what you can" performances each season as a way to offer patrons on a fixed income who can't afford to pay full price an opportunity to see Live Theatre.

"Our low cost previews, the 'pay what you can' performance and our $10 student rush tickets are all perfect opportunities for Totem Pole Playhouse to give something back to our local community," said Totem Pole's long serving General Manager, Sue McMurtray, "especially those who support Totem Pole but who might not be able to afford the full price of a ticket to one of our shows. Rowan has always promoted the idea that we need to find more ways for more people to have an opportunity to see the high quality of Totem Pole's productions."

Individuals who can afford to pay full price are still encouraged to do so and can purchase their tickets and reserve seats ahead of time. Any unsold seats will be offered beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday for whatever price patrons are able to pay and the tickets will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Totem Pole will also present a special Children's Theatre performance of Rumpelstiltskin free of charge at 10 a.m. every Saturday morning in July beginning Saturday, July 9th, and continuing July 16th, 23rd and 30th open to children of all ages and sponsored by Adams Electric Cooperative, Inc.
