The Belmont Theatre will present the musical OLIVER! on the main stage November 17-19 & 24-26. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows are at 3:00 p.m. A special matinee was just added on Saturday, November 25 at 2pm.

Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart's classic musical based on Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike.

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver's chances of discovering the true love of a family. The show includes musical favorites including the title song, "Oliver", "Where is Love", "Consider Yourself", "I'd Do Anything", "Oom-Pah-Pah" and more.

OLIVER! is directed by The Belmont Theatre's Artistic Director Rene Staub. Music Direction is by Rick Anderson. Choreography is by Samantha Herman. The cast features Rowan Barber from Hanover as the title character, Oliver, Jeff Gilbert as Fagin, Erin Kelly as Nancy, Brian Gilbert as Bill Sykes, Katie Latta as Bet, Robert Eisenhower as Mr. Bumble, Mona Krevsky as Widow Corney, Christine Emig and Alan Weinberg as Mr. & Mrs. Sowerberry and Jacob Schmitt as Dodger. The cast of over 50 includes technical dancers and many children playing orphans and Fagin's gang of pickpockets. The LIVE orchestra will be conducted by Music Director Rick Anderson. The 2 story set includes a turntable to bring the musical numbers to life.

Patrons are urged to not wait to purchase tickets. Some of the past productions have sold out before they opened! Group sales are available. Go to www.thebelmont.org or call 854-5715 for advance tickets and more information.
