The Arts at Millersville University Sets 5th Season, Featuring Cabaret, Dance & More

The Arts at Millersville opens the Fifth Season on September 19, 2015 with the premiere performance by the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center on the campus of Millersville University. This special partnership plays tribute to Hollywood's greatest composers from favorite films, The Hobbit, The Wizard of Oz, Frozen, and Star Wars.

The fifth season brings numerous favorites back by popular demand as well as continued emphasis on artists who call Lancaster home.

The entire 2015-2016 season is available online at www.ArtsMU.com starting Wednesday, August 5th at 10 am.

Hi-lights of the season include:

A valentine's cabaret by James Torme (son of 3-time Grammy Award Winning Jazz Legend Mel Torme), The "One Man Star Wars Trilogy" by Charlie Ross in anticipation of the new Star Wars film release, AXIS Dance Company and Nai Ni Chen Chinese Dance, multi-award winning Scottish Gaelic singer, Julie Fowlis, who was featured in the soundtrack of Disney Pixar's movie "Brave", Grammy Award winning children's music star, Dan Zanes and Cahoots children's theatre group from Ireland brings their charming production of "EGG" to our Family Fun Fest series, Holiday performances include returning favorite Irish Christmas In America, and a soulful Christmas Cabaret by Alice Tan Ridley, a free lecture series endorsed by Millersville University President Dr. John Anderson and Lancaster City Mayor Rick Gray focusing on environmental sustainability, and classical performances include Antoine Tamestit, violist, who will present his Bach program before his debut at the Kennedy Center.

Local performers include:

Allegro Chamber Orchestra, OperaLancaster, Red Rose City Chorus, NetCo Dance, Candace O'Donnell in her one woman show of Mary Todd Lincoln, Kerensa Gray, Jose Holland-Garcia, Trio Clavino, Lancaster British Brass, Gospel Sounds of Lancaster and Evita Colon's Lancaster premiere, "Speak to My Soul" among many others.

"This milestone season is a tribute to the community embracing Millersville's role in the artistic and civic life of downtown Lancaster. We are dedicated to bringing performances and lectures to the city, as well as enriching the campus with the arts," says Laura Kendall, Director of the Arts at Millersville.

Tickets vary in price depending on the performance. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Ticket Office located in the Student Memorial Center on Millersville's campus, or the Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street, in Lancaster. Doors open one hour before each show for ticket sales, subject to availability. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street Lancaster and the Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Ave., Millersville.
