The Players Club of Swarthmore closes its 2016-17 season with the raucous, blue collar, musical comedy The Full Monty April 21-May 6, for ten performances at 614 Fairview Ave. in Swarthmore. Buy tickets online at www.pcstheater.org.

The Americanized musical stage version of the 1997 British film, The Full Monty is a wild send-up of gender stereotypes that moves to the beat of David Yazbek's audacious score and supremely smart lyrics, and features a solid book by Terrence McNally. When it shimmied its way onto Broadway in 2000, The Full Monty garnered nine Tony nominations, including Best Musical.

Directed by Anne Marie Scalies and Emily Fishman, The Full Monty follows Jerry Lukowski (Brian Seaman, Philadelphia) and five other down-and-out steelworkers in Buffalo, New York, who are desperately seeking employment, until they come up with a novel way to make a quick buck by starting a striptease act. As the guys work through their fears and anxieties, they discover that the strength they find in each other gives them the courage to face their demons and overcome them.

The Full Monty also features actors Andrew SanFilippo (Springfield), Kristy Boyer Chen (Wallingford), Chaz Meyers (Media), Joe Tabasco (Philadelphia), Sherri Carr (Media), Tim Whelan (Wilmington, Del.), Connie Pelesh (Media), Ben Long (West Chester), Ally Greene (Bryn Mawr), Jay Reilly (Norristown), Robert Harris (Philadelphia), Doris Chan (Concord), Alfred Lance Jr. (Wilmington, Del.), Ed Emmi (Wilmington, Del.), Jasmine Bryant (Upper Darby), Amy Goldman ( Media), Blake Eckert (Ridley Park), Chris Stone (Newtown Square), Howard Cylinder (Philadelphia), Jamilah Bryant (Unioncornville), Laura Stone (Newtown Square), and Anthony SanFilippo (Springfield). Kevin Gane and Emily Szal are the musical directors and Fishman is the choreographer. Derek Ross designed the sets, Ryan Stone designed the lights, and Davida Weiler-Stone designed the sound.

Thursday performances are at 7:30 p.m.,Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Audiences can meet the artists in a talkback discussion after the April 30 performance.
