On a Midsummer's night, four young lovers find themselves wrapped in the dream-like arms of an enchanted forest where sprites lurk and fairies rule. While a feuding Fairy King and Queen are at war, their paths are crossed by Bottom, Quince and their friends presenting a play within a play. Chief mischief-maker Puck is on-hand to ensure that the course of true love is anything but smooth, and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue in Shakespeare's most beguiling comedy.
Making her directorial debut Olivia King explains "I chose to direct and work on this show, not only because it gave me the opportunity to direct but also because of the message it sends to the audience. This show speaks to the power of love and the approval of others' love. The struggle for love and how our characters eventually reconcile their issues through approval is such a powerful message. One that I wanted to help convey to our audiences."
The dynamic cast is led by Bekah Eicherlberger as Titania and
Benjamin Ruth as Bottom. Also featured is Cindi Surovi as Puck, Will Erwin as Thesius as well as the Assistant Director. Rounding out the cast is: Brian Keller, Whitney Pirnik, David Eckhart, Michael Catanzaro, Marian Barshinger, Julisa Trinidad, Bryanna Pye, Brogan Shay, Jack Warnke, and
Dara Connelly.
This is Star of the Day's second summer Shakespeare production.
