The Ware Center in downtown Lancaster opens its doors again for this October's First Friday on October 2 from 6-8 pm. The community is welcome to enjoy a free concert and browse an orchid and art exhibit. Some activities will remain available throughout Lancaster's Artwalk weekend. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

FREE Concert | Saint Elouise:

Saint Elouise will be performing on the Fine Living Lancaster First Friday Music Stage. Elegant, sultry, and edgy, Saint Elouise consists of lead singer, keyboardist, and guitarist Christina Berg, bassist Derek Stoner, and drummer Scott MacFeat. Their style is a unique blend of pop, jazz, and soul along with classical inspiration and latin grooves. Artists that have been compared to Saint Elouise are Norah Jones, Dido, and Diana Krall.

Saint Elouise formed several years ago when Christina Berg decided her few songs needed extra support. After hearing bass and drums added to her piano, she knew that writing and performing music was what she needed to do. Although most often seen playing her original tunes at gigs, Saint Elouise has a vast cover repertoire of oldies including Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and more. The name Saint Elouise came from a combination of Christina's middle name, Louise, and the patron saint of outcasts and orphans, Saint Eloise.

FREE Art Exhibit | Art of the Orchid:

The Ware Center will host a display of hundreds of orchids for "Art of the Orchid", presented by the Susquehanna Orchid Society, as well as artwork by students of the Mount Gretna School of Art. The orchid show will remain open during Artwalk event hours, Saturday, Oct 3 and Sunday, Oct 4. This artwork will remain on display for the month of October in Regitz Gallery. Visitors are welcome to view the orchids and meet local orchid experts, who will be available to answer questions about the growth and care of orchids. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase orchid plants, dish gardens, flower arrangements, and other orchid-related merchandise. New this year will be a Preview Party on Thursday evening the with refreshments, and a silent auction of selected floral arrangements.

Along with orchids, the Ware Center will also host the School District of Lancaster Art Show, featuring two- and three-dimensional art by young local artists from grades K-12. This exhibit of the School District of Lancaster will remain on display over the weekend during Lancaster's ArtWalk.
