Patti LuPone and More Set for Millersville University's 5th Arts Season

The Arts at Millersville University's Fifth Season continues with more than 55 unique performances by both local and touring artists, films, and new Adult Learning Classes, all starting in full swing this January, with tickets going on sale for Broadway Legend and film star, Patti LuPone January 11th, for the fifth anniversary season gala.


Highlights of the second half include:

AWARE Lancaster Yoga & Wellness Day

Saturday Jan. 16, 8 am - 8:30 pm I Ware Center I Tickets: $20 "Basic" Admission, $45 "Basic Plus", $70 "Premium" (More info on admission here.)

With a goal to "start the New Year off right," the first annual Aware Lancaster event will feature 13 yoga and wellness master classes from regional experts, and a lively Marketplace with vendors, live music, and hourly asana practices for the whole community. Those new to yoga and interested in exploring different styles are invited to a gentle and welcoming environment committed to inclusiveness, sharing yoga, and community. Aware Lancaster is sponsored in part by Martin Insurance Agency.

Theatre - Evita Colon's "Speak To My Soul"

Sunday Jan. 24 at 2 pm I Ware Center I $10 general, $5 student

Colon voices the stories of her people through the West African tradition of spoken word, song, and dance, as generations maneuver the changing world around them. Nineteen stories will be told, including "Mama's Children," "The Crazy Sista," and "Incarcerated Brother."

Dance - Celebrate the Chinese New Year with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company

Friday Jan. 29 at 7:30 pm I Winter Center I $15 general, $12 senior, $5 student

Reaching more than 50,000 audience members a year, the dances of Nai-Ni Chen fuse the dynamic freedom of American modern dance with the grace and splendor of Asian art, helping to bridge the gap between cultures. The company will celebrate 2016 as the Year of the Monkey with festive, time-honored music and dance, including the Lion Dance, the Mongolian Chopstick Dance, and the Coinstick Dance, all representing traditional themes and dance forms.

Family - Cahoots Ni presents EGG

Wednesday Feb. 24 at 7 pm I Ware Center I $10 general, $5 children 10 & under

Presented by Cahoots NI from Belfast, Northern Ireland, this magical story of friendship and empathy unfolds on a rustic set, exquisitely constructed out of twigs, feathers, and shell. A tale of three birds...and an egg! Starting one hour before performance, children are welcome to participate in creative, hands-on activities.

Special 5th Anniversary Gala With Broadway Legend Patti LuPone "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda... Played That Part."

Saturday, Mar. 19 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I Tickets go on sale Jan. 11

One of the biggest names in Broadway, TV, film, and the recording industry comes to Lancaster to help the Arts at Millersville celebrate its fifth season at the Ware Center in an elegant gala! Consistently able to sell out large, 2000 seat venues, this time around Ms. LuPone will share an intimate evening of theatre in the 350-seat Steinman Hall.

Music - Malpass Brothers

Saturday Apr. 2 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I $25

Brothers Christopher and Taylor Malpass will send country music fans back generations with their classic country performance. Their music is heavily influenced from their grandfather's country albums, and they strive to bring back the music so familiar to them in childhood. The Malpass Brothers don't just sound retro, they are retro. Ticket includes complimentary beverage service.

Theatre - An Evening with C.S. Lewis

Thursday Apr. 7 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I $18 general, $15 senior, $5 student

Critically acclaimed actor David Payne brings C.S. Lewis to life like no one else can. Seated in his living room, in 1963, Lewis recalls the people and events that helped shape his life and inspire his work. This show sold out in 2012 and is a tour-de-force for this remarkable actor. A Pre-Show Scholar Talk will begin at 6:45 pm: Dr. Timothy Shea and Dr. Tim Miller will discuss the life and work of C.S. Lewis. Seating for the talk is first come, first serve.

Music - Robin Spielberg: American Tapestry Trio

Saturday Apr. 9 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I $15 general, $12 senior, $5 student

Recognized pianist and vocalist Robin Spielberg joins vocalist, guitarist, and fiddlist Kate Macleod, and cellist and percussionist Stephanie Winter to play the music that has become woven into the fabric of American culture. Their music tells stories of hardship and lost love while also depicting the beauty of America. New arrangements of American classics help create a comfortable connection between past and present.

Classical - Antoine Tamestit, Viola

Friday Apr. 22 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I $15 general, $12 senior, $5 student

A 2015 Grammy winner for providing accompaniment on the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album, Antoine Tamestit has achieved the rare distinction as a violist of playing at the highest level with orchestra and being continuously in demand as a chamber musician and recitalist. London Evening Standard describes, "His sound full, his touch light, soloist Antoine Tamestit reveled in his instrument's mellow fruitiness but there were also moments of gently explosive exuberance."

Family - The Jungle Book

Saturday Apr. 23 at 11 am I Ware Center I $10 general, $5 children 10 & under

Presented by the Pennsylvania Ballet, The Jungle Book is a completely original children's ballet production, from the choreography, to the music, to the sets and costumes. A one-of-a-kind story in which a young boy learns about life and morality from the world and creatures around him. Starting one hour before performance, children are welcome to participate in creative, hands-on activities.

Cabaret - Marieann Meringolo: "The Shape of My Heart"

Friday Apr. 29 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I $25

Marieann Meringolo returns to the Ware Center after a sold out show in 2013. Focusing on the raw emotions of the fragile, vulnerable, guarded, spirited, trusting and exquisite matters of the heart, Meringolo covers an eclectic mix of music from Cole Porter to Sara Bareilles, Michel Legrand, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Sting, and more. All tickets include complimentary beverage service which begins at 7:00 PM.

Classical - Broadway Our Way

Saturday May 14 at 7:30 pm I Ware Center I $45 general, $20 student, $20 youth 17 & under

Millersville University and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra present a show that stars Will and Anthony Nunziata singing the best of Broadway tunes. The brothers are touted by Entertainment magazine as having, "amazing voices," and are described by the Huffington Post as, "a nearly impossible pairing of talent, stage presence, and charisma."
