Open Stage Of Harrisburg Ends Season with Adaptation of LITTLE WOMEN ImageOpen Stage of Harrisburg ends 32nd Season with Louisa May Alcott's classic, Little Women, adapted by local writer Laura Dugan.

The timeless classic is brought to life in a glorious adaptation filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope, and everlasting love. Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy March. Jo, a writer, learns to write from her heart and weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America. The beloved story soars with the power of sisterhood and the sounds of a young America finding its voice.

Commissioned by Open Stage, local writer Laura Dugan penned this new adaptation. Dugan and Stuart Landon, Producing Artistic Director, chose the final show together, feeling that the story fit in perfectly with the theme of the 2017-2018 Season. Landon says, "In a season where we chose to celebrate 'Lifting Up Women's Voices' we thought that Little Women would be the definitive way to end this chapter at Open Stage. Alcott truly helped define American literature and feminist literature. The story of the March family is the story about every family, and I believe that Harrisburg families will find themselves laughing, crying and falling in love with the characters all over again in this brand new adaptation."

Little Women closes Season 32 at Open Stage of Harrisburg, which included Fun Home, Akeelah and the Bee, Caollective Rage, The Flick, The Vagina Monologues, Alice in Wonderland and The Diary of Anne Frank. Perhaps due to the political and social movement being seen across the country, Open Stage of Harrisburg is celebrating one of its most successful years "Lifting up Women's Voices."
