New York's 2 Ring Circus has followed the Yellow Brick Road to the Fulton Theatre to fulfill Artistic Director Marc Robin's vision of bringing circus elements to the largest production in the theater's 160-year history. In addition to seeing the company 8 shows per week in "The Wizard of Oz", they will also be performing their signature work, "Cirque Le Jazz", in an evening to benefit the Fulton. The aerial circus company, founded in 2010, is comprised of four performers: Joshua Dean, Ben Franklin, Lani Corson & Kenneth Ziegler.
The one-night only event will be held on July 12th at 7:30pm, and features a big band soundtrack with a song list that ranges from traditional circus to the swinging hits of the 30's and 40's. 2 Ring Circus specializes in bringing a theatrical twist to traditional circus, and "Cirque Le Jazz" is just that: a heart warming fusion of Broadway-style song and dance, stunning aerial artistry, ground acrobatics and unflappable charm perfect for audiences of all ages.
For the last decade, members of the company have been bringing their brand of circus to theatrical productions with such organizations as L.A. Opera, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Hartford Stage, The Araca Project, Fulton Theatre and Pace University, while coming together to create full-length spectacles of their own. This past Holiday season, "Cirque Le Jazz" toured 10 cities all over China to rave reviews.
Proceeds from the performance will benefit the Fulton Theatre, itself a not-for-profit organization since 1963. The Fulton serves Lancaster County and eastern Pennsylvania with arts education programs, community engagement initiatives, pay-what-you-can evenings, and intern/apprentice programs for those looking to begin a professional career in the arts, all while employing over 250 actors every single year.
