Just in time for Little League season, director and Millbrook alumni Lawrence Lesher (Millbrook's Tuna Christmas and Shakespeare Abridged) has transformed the Poorman Cabaret into a good ol' fashioned baseball field where two well-meaning dads eagerly coach their sons' Little League team to victory...as soon as they can agree on what exactly that means. Tough, blue-collar veteran coach Don, played by Travis Mitchell (Millbrook's Tuna Christmas, National tours: Rock of Ages and Spring Awakening), wants to win at all costs; newcomer Michael, played by Timothy J. Cox (Millbrook's The 39 Steps), just wants the kids to have fun. Stuck together for an entire season, they struggle to resolve their differences and align their leadership philosophies - with a handful of exhilarating victories, heartbreaking defeats, and interminable rain-outs along the way. In a ferociously competitive world where winning is everything, how should we be raising our children?
There is no better way to celebrate 4th of July weekend than by spending some time in the outfield with an All-American sport! After all, what could be better this summer than a little baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie?
