The Board of Directors and Artistic Director, David Leidholdt, have announce that the application period for "The Richard Guido Memorial Scholarship Fund" will open at the season launch, Another Opening, Another Season on June 6 at 6:00 pm.
The Scholarship was created to honor the memory of a treasured friend and Millbrook ambassador. Richard Guido was a beloved character actor responsible for many fun and over-the-top performances on the Playhouse stage. "You could hear Guido's laugh before he entered a room, and he always had a smile on his face and a new joke to tell" says long time Board Member, Jo Ann Hoberman. Just as his animation and vitality defined his professional life, his generosity of spirit and kind heart defined his personal life. "Guido was compassionate and unselfish, and always went out of his way to make sure that staff members, interns and artists making Millbrook their summer home had a cup of coffee, a sandwich... the 'little extras' they needed to be comfortable, his contributions were invaluable' says Artistic Director, David Leidholdt.
In Guido's honor, Millbrook Playhouse has established the "The Richard Guido Memorial Scholarship Fund". The Scholarship provides financial assistance to local young people to subsidise tuition for Millbrook's Theatre Camps, and the new Teen Performing Arts Academy. The scholarship will also be allotted to collegiate interns to insure the highest quality applicants can accept an opportunity with the playhouse regardless of individual finances. For more information or to apply for the scholarship, visit www.millbookplayhouse.org.
MIllbrooks Board of Directors will officially announce the scholarship guidelines at the 2015 season launch event Another Opening, Another Season on June 6. As part of the evenings festivities there will be highlights of the upcoming season and a tribute to Guido.
